One of the community leaders in Ogbe Ogume, Chief Chris Ochonogor has commended the state government for the reopening of Ogume Grammar School, saying it is a step in the right direction. According to him the closure was to serve as a deterrent to unscrupulous elements in the community.

In a brief chat with Ndokwa Vanguard this morning Chief Ochonogor thanked the efforts of Ogbe Ogume community for putting hands on deck to see that conditions given by the state government for the reopening of the school were met.
He said when the news of the closure filtered into his ears he left his comfort zone at Port Harcourt to the village to see for himself. He said he mobilized the sons and daughters of Ogbe Ogume in and outside Nigeria to raise funds. The CDC of Ogbe Ogume were on hands according to him. The effort yielded result.
He however gave knock to the Old Students who never cared about their Alma Mater. Chief Ochonogor said that the school has produced eminent men in the society and wondered why they never cared about the school especially in the trial period.
