The management of the Delta State Polytechnic at Ogwashi-Uku has assured officials of the Nigeria Polytechnics Games Association (NIPOGA) of hosting the 22nd edition of all Polytechnic games with a difference.
Management gave the assurance when NIPOGA officials visited the institution to intimate it on the decision of the body to host the games at Ogwashi-Uku.
The Rector of the institution, Professor Emmanuel Achuenu, said the institution was one famous polytechnic in the South South zone that was peaceful, focused and with great love for sports, adding that selecting the institution to host the 22nd edition of the games was a welcome development.
While saying that the institution would be actively involved in all the games, he said the management was fully in support of NIPOGA.
The Secretary General of the NIPOGA, Mr. Akinbode Agboola, from the Federal Polytechnic, Ede, said the body decided to select the institution because of the leading role of the institution in sports in Nigeria.
He said NIPOGA would organise the sporting meet in the institution for two reasons which included ensuring peace in all the institutions and for students to engage and showcase their talents in various sports, adding that the greatest interest of NIPOGA was to bring students together.
While commending the institution for successfully hosting the past NIPOGA, he said with the selection of the institution to host the 22nd edition, Professor Achuenu had equally been conferred with the position of the Vice President of NIPOGA.
