Delta state government on Monday has keep off the commencement of the second phase training of 575 ICT beneficiaries selected across the 25 local government area of the state.
The Honorable commissioner, ministry of science and technology, Mrs. Jennifer Adasen Efeviroro disclosed this on the occasion of the opening ceremony at Asaba.
The commissioner noted that the state governor, senator Dr. lfeanyi graciously approved the commencement of the first phase of the programme on April 2021 that was concluded on January 2022 with distribution of starter kits to all 593 trainee that are successfully completed in the training programme.
The commissioner added that the second phase that is commencing today ( Monday) with 575 youth from across the 25 local government area of the state were selected through a highly CBTs and oral interview.
She maintained that the training programme will run for a period of four months with successful participants trained on two major modules, which she said will be; start up academy made up of – basic and advance web development, mobile development, universal interface and universal expression design essential.
Continuing, the participants will also be trained on ICT for self-employment which includes; home security design and installation, advanced solar and inverter installation, computer repairs and installation, and home and office networking.
The commissioner highlighted that the main essence of the ICT-YEP underscores governor Okowa administration of ” Stronger Delta” initiative, which basically is to inculcate unemployed youths to be self-reliant and become employers of labour.
According to her, ” it is pertinent to highlight here that the main essence of this ICT-YEP underscores this administration’s ” Stronger Delta” initiative which basically is to include our unemployed youths with skillset to be self-employed, self-reliant, and become employers of labour”.
” While at the same time generate wealth themselves with this innovative thought process by this present administration”.
” It is believed Delta state will be able to build a community of Youths with the right skills to start their businesses, become self-sufficient entrepreneur and be able to contribute meaningfully and positively to the development of Delta in particular and the nation at large”.
She commended Governor Okowa for his continual support he has always given to ensure that the programme succeeds and beneficiaries received their start-up packs.
