In a bid to encourage children to embrace school and show serious to learning, the Rotary Club of Okpanam Hilltop in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Government House, Asaba and the Rotary Club of Isele-Azagba have distributed notebooks and scho ol sandals to pupils of Mgbala Model Pimary School and Umegbali Primary School, Okpanam.
Addressing the pupils in their schools, the President of Rotary Club of Okpanam Hilltop, Rtn . Jeffery Mordi , who is the councillor representing DISIEC Ward 12 Okpanam in Oshimili North said that Rotary was a non governmental organisation that always provided selfless service to humanity.
Rtn. Mordi , who doubles as the Chief Whip of Oshimili North Legislative Arm , said that the the Rotary Club of Okpanam Hilltop in partnership with other sister clubs decided to provide the school sandals and other materials in order to cushion the effects of the prevailing economic situation that their parents especially the less privilege among them might be facing.
He stated that club also provided books for Okpanam High School in 2021, adding that the organisation deemed it necessary to extend assistance to St. Molumba College, Okpanam with the planting of some economic trees for the benefits of not only the school but the community in general.
Rtn. Mordi, who assured the pupils of Mgbala Model Pimary School and Umegbali Primary School that the Organisation would continue to render assistance to them , stressing that they should embrace the humanitarian style of Rotarians.

He said that it was always gratifying to give back to the society, adding that extending assistance to others in need was not an indication that one was very rich but out of love .
Earlier, the Head Teacher of Mgbala Model Pimary School, Mrs. Edith Owumi commended the Rotary Club for finding her school worthy to benefit from the gesture.
While calling on other Non-Governmental Organisations to emulate the gesture of Rotary Club, Mrs. Edith Owumi lauded the government for providing pupils desk and chairs for teachers in the school just as she appealed to government to provide more classroom blocks for the school.
