IGP calls for synergy, says Abuja terror alert untrue

Inspector General of Police, Akali Baba Usman has call for more synergy and collaboration saying policing is everyone business and that the number of policemen we have will never be able to police the country effectively.

The IGP made this call on Saturday, when commissioning the edifice police station and barrack at Ibusu in Oshimili North Local Government Area in Delta state.

He said the project also cover the six geopolitical zone across the country to help improve police work environment, and move from the analogue to digital.

He urged citizens to “ forget the unnecessary international conspiracy and effort to bring down the effort of government, saying international security alert is unnecessary and does not have meaning”

He appealed to the media not to be use as pools of transmitting false news, inciting news that are meant to bring us down, we should be able to know the type of news that will enable us grow in strength, capacity”.

He said the Federal Government approved and adopted community policing for those people who are gainfully employed and have the time to spare out some of their time to collaborate with the police in protecting their immediate community.

He noted that the community policing is not a paying job but a volunteering contribution from the community as a way of patterning, surveillance, synergizing and protecting their area to maintain law and order in their respective communities.

He added that the essence of the station is to ensure that everybody goes about with their lawful business, and that the police want to mitigate and reduce crime to its minimal when people are committed and see the reason of what the job has provided for them to give their best.

He appealed to ibuzu community and Delta state at large that the project does not belong to the police but the people of ibuzu and Delta state.

Noting that the fund use in building the police station is for the federal government but a contribution from every citizen of Nigeria, urging the community to protect it and take ownership so that the police can maintain it.

Earlier, Delta state commissioner of police, Mr. Ari Mohammed Ali Expressed happiness at the visit, and appreciate the IGP for constructing the police station edifice and barrack accommodation in Delta state.

He added that the kind gesture of the IGP will not only serve as a motivation for officers of the command but it will go a long way in mitigating the difficulties in securing good accommodation for our men while discharging their official duties.

He assured the IGP that the gesture will spur up yielding their best in showcasing the good to the general public.
