Girl, 12 bags scholarship award as team Iyke donates food items to IDP camp

A 12 year old girl in Junior Secondary School, Ebube Asagba has baged team Iyke scholarship award, as the group donated food items of different categories to the internally displaced persons (IDPs) at Ogbe- Afor camp in Asaba.

Ebube who is a student of Cotton Edge International School, Oko in Oshimili South Local Government Area of Delta State.

The items donated includes: Noodles of various pack, writing materials for the pupils and students, detergents of various brands, bags of sachets water and many others.

Speaking in an interview, the Director General of the Team lyke, Hon. Ikechukwu chukwurah said the group decided to embark on the visitation to contribute his quota, stressing that the ravaging flood victims are going through alot and that the flood has taken over part of the state and Oko community happened to be among them.

He added that the only way to ease the plight of the flood victims is to celebrate with them and feels the pains they are going through.

Adding that him and his team has decided to add to value to their joy by giving out the little to his ability, saying “he can’t be there and his people from Oko are suffering from the ravaging flood without food and water”.

He noted that the denation has no polical reason but was purely from his heart to support his people.

He urged those that are privileged enough to support, saying these people needs love, and care to feel belonging to the society.

Earlier, the representative of the LGA PDP Chaiman Oshimili South, Mr. Ogbueshi Dada Okonji said the movement has nothing to do with political affiliation but strictly to put smile in the faces of the flood desaster and reduce the pains caused by it.

He maintained that the group is glad seeing the victims smiling irrespective of damages the flood has caused.

While the mother of the scholarship beneficiary, Mrs. Nwayibife Asagba thanked the convener for finding her daughter worthy among the children in IDP camp, saying she never knew that this flood will introduce her daughter into scholarship award.
