Ukwuani People Defy Torrential Rain To Honour Anoka

The Homecoming and reception in honour of Engr Michael Ifeanyi Anoka alias Nature witnessed a mammoth crowd. People came from far and near despite the Noah rain to catch a glimpse of the occasion.


The event which was richly packed was to celebrate the appointment of Engr Michael Ifeanyi Anoka who was recently appointed as Commissioner for Urban Renewal. It was worth celebrating because he broke the record as the first Ogume man to be made a commissioner. The event held on Sunday, September 3, 2023 at the Ezedogume Model Primary School compound.


The Okwa and Onotu Uku-in-Councils including the Community Development Committee, CDC of the entire Ogume were in attendance. Social, interest and political groups were not left out in the the celebration. It was not a party affair.


Speaking at the occasion, Engr Anoka thanked God for the feat and also appreciated HE Sir Monday Onyeme the deputy governor of the state who ensured that he got the appointment. He used the occasion to reiterate the fact that Sir Monday Onyeme is pro Ogume as against the handiwork of mischief makers who embarked on campaign of calumny against Sir Onyeme during electioneering period. “If he was against Ogume as postulated by the devil incarnates in Ogume he wouldn’t have allowed my appointment to scale through.”


He promised to start from where his cousin Barr Leonard Anoka stopped. “The electrification of Ogume which Barr Leonard Anoka embarked upon was a yeoman job which must be appreciated and since electrification and construction of roads fall within my mandate I’ll try my very best to ensure that the right projects and captured in the budget.” He promised to meet the Community Development Committee, CDC of Ogume in the next one week to plot the development graph of Ogume.
“The fact that I’m from Ogume does not mean that my focus must be here alone. My mandate cut across the state.”


He promised to run an open door policy, adding that election has come and gone and that there was need for other political parties to collapse their structures to work in unison with Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in the state.


Among the dignitaries that graced were the Commissioner for Health, PDP Chairman, Ndokwa West, Secretary to the Local Government, Ndokwa West, chiefs Johnson Emenimadu, Paul Agali, Benson Ogwu, Festus Enukegu, Sunday Achudume and Ojodume Otutu. Others were Anslem Oyibo, Patrick Chegwe, Onyemazua, Stanley Opia, Ojodume Ogeleka among others too numerous to be mentioned on finger tip.


The high point was entertainment of guests with food and drinks while various cultural troupes, Eric Enuma and Sir Kendo entertained.
