A faction of the Rivers state House of assembly have elected former Majority leader, Edison Ehie, as their speaker.
Edison who is loyal to the state governor, Fubara, was elected speaker on Monday October 30, after a faction of the assembly removed him as house leader, as the plot to impeach Fubara intensified.
Some lawmakers loyal to Governor Fubara gathered and appointed Ehie as their speaker. They also approved the suspension of the state Chief Judge.
Governor Fubara has since congratulated Ehie as the new Speaker of the state House of Assembly. It is however unclear if Ehie has the mace of the House.
