This announcement is highly anticipated by the Corps Members who have been eagerly awaiting the completion of their service year. The Passing-Out Parade marks the end of a year-long journey of serving the nation, which is a mandatory requirement for Nigerian graduates.

Key Details from NYSC Management:

NYSC Management in their official communication stated:

“This is to inform Members of the public that NYSC Management has approved Friday 15th January 2023 as the Passing-Out date for the 2023 Batch ‘A’ Stream Two Corps Members nationwide.”

This statement highlights the specific date for the POP and acknowledges the nationwide scale of the event.

Pre-Passing Out Activities:

Leading up to the POP, there are several activities planned for the Corps Members. These include sensitization sessions on job creation and opportunities after service. These sessions will be conducted by experienced officials from the NYSC and the National Directorate of Employment (NDE).

These activities are designed to prepare the Corps Members for life after their service year, focusing on employment and entrepreneurship opportunities.

The Ceremony:

The Passing-Out ceremony is described to be a low-key event, in line with recent trends to make such events more streamlined and focused. The highlight of the event will be the distribution of Certificates of National Service. However, it’s important to note that these certificates will only be awarded to deserving Corps Members and the distribution will take place at the Local Government level.

Words from the NYSC Director General:

Brigadier General YD Ahmed, the NYSC Director General, has expressed his gratitude towards the Corps Members for their dedicated service and contributions to the socio-economic development of the country.

He emphasized the importance of the skills acquired during the NYSC Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development program. The Director General encouraged the Corps Members to apply these skills in starting their own businesses, wherever they choose to settle post-service.

Safety Advice:

In terms of safety, the Director General advised Corps Members to remain vigilant and security-conscious. He specifically warned against the dangers of accepting free rides and traveling at night, wishing them a successful post-service life.

Additional Opportunities:

Corps Members are also encouraged to explore additional opportunities, such as applying for the Presidential Conditional Grant Scheme (PCGS), which can provide further support in their post-NYSC endeavors.
