Dyslexia: Nwaobi Bags DIPA’s Patron’s Award For Support To Vulnerable Persons

The Chairman, Nigerian Majority Leaders’ Forum/Majority Leader of Delta State House of Assembly and member representing Aniocha North Constituency, Hon. Engr. Emeka Emmanuel Nwaobi has been honoured with the DIPA’s Patron’s Award, in recognition and deep appreciation for his past and present laudable roles in support of humanitarian activities, especially with regards to vulnerable children in the society.

The DIPA Patron’s Award was presented to him in his office by the Founder/Executive Director of Dyslexia Initiative Project Africa (DIPA), Enddy Sunny-Udjor.

Hon. Nwaobi said he was glad to have been nominated from among government functionaries to be so appreciated with the DIPA Patron’s Award, as a result of the State Government’s support to the development of vulnerable persons in the State.

He said in line with the MORE Agenda of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, the 8th Assembly for which he is a Principal Officer, is already doing much to legislate on matters of social welfare schemes that will benefit the people, especially the vulnerable ones.

Hon. Nwaobi affirmed that the primary responsibility of government is to ensure the security and welfare of the people, noting that they would continue as lawmakers, to contribute their immense legislative quota to the actualisation of dividends of democracy for all.

He appreciated the organisers of the award for finding him worthy of such honour, while commending the State Government for supporting the activities of the NGO to carry out functions that are geared towards uplifting the status of vulnerable persons in the State.

In her speech while presenting the award to the Majority Leader, Lady Enddy Sunny-Udjor thanked him for being among the very few politicians who had monumentally supported vulnerable persons to grow and develop beyond their limits.

She explained that the initiative of DIPA is geared towards vulnerable children, to enable them reason and decode things like the normal children in the society; and on that note, DIPA had been visiting various schools across the country, engaging teachers on training in skills that would encourage teaching and relational harmony amongst their students, irrespective of their differences in abilities.

The DIPA Director however, posited that it is the intention and policy of the organisation to equally support the vulnerable children in their various schools, with gadgets that can adequately aid them in their academic studies as well as enhance their physical and mental development.

She further commended the Government of Sheriff Oborevwori for supporting the DIPA’s conference in line with its initiative to engender processes that can guarantee equity in opportunity for all children, irrespective of their physical abilities or disabilities.

A Dyslexia is a learning disorder characterised by difficulty in reading. It occurs in children with normal vision and intelligence.
