Super Eagles will fight hard to beat Cote d’Ivoire — Captain Troost-Ekong

Jan 17, 2024

Captain of the Super Eagles team, William Troost-Ekong has said that the Super Eagles will give their best to win hosts Cote d’Ivoire in their next game at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations billed for the Alassanne Quattara Stadium, Ebimpe, Abidjan on Thursday.

The Super Eagles were held by the Nzalang Nacional of Equatorial Guinea to a 1-1 draw in their first game on Sunday.

Cote d’Ivoire meanwhile claimed a 2-0 victory against Guinea-Bissau in the opening game of the competition meaning that Nigeria needs to avoid defeat against Jean Louis Gasset’s men to boost their chances of claiming a place in the Round of 16.

Troost-Ekong believes the Super Eagles will go all out and fight for a win.

“We know what is at stake against Cote d’Ivoire. It’s a must-win game for us and we must fight hard for the three points,” the PAOK Salonica of Greece player told Completesports.

”It’s going to be a difficult game, we know that. They will have 60,000 fans in the stadium backing them to win.

It’s not something that is going to scare us. We are top professionals and have faced similar situations like this in the past.

” We will give our best and ensure we come out with a win.”
