The king maker (Onishe) of Ubulu-Uku kingdom in Aniocha South local government area of Delta State , Chief Emma Ejiofor, has insisted that he remains the Onishe of Ubulu-Uku kingdom, and anyone parading himself is at his own risk

Chief Ejiofor stated this in Asaba while clarifying the alleged installation of a new ‘Onishe’ in the kingdom while in his still alive.

Ejiofor noted that nobody has the right to proclaim or assume the title or position of the “Onishe of Ubulu-Uku kingdom” while he (Ejiofor) is still alive even though the person is from his kindred.

According to his explanation, “the titles in the community are shared based on the quarters and each title rotates within the kindred and none one is hereditary except the kingship that moves from the father to his first son”.

Emma explain further that Ubulu-Uku kingdom is practising a monarchy system adding that anyone who is not from his family but priding himself as the “Onishe” or accepting such a title or position should be ready to face the consequences.

He said “Ubulu-Uku cannot have two ‘Onishe’ at a time just as two kings cannot be on the throne, stressing that it takes the throne to have an ‘Onishe’ and it takes an Onishe to have a king at the throne.

According to him “Nobody has the right to take it even from my kindred. Nobody has right to even assume that position while I am still alive. If you go to my community, we are not like other social community, we are traditional community.”

“When you come to Ubulu-Uku and you greet anybody with his title, one will know when the person is coming from. Titles are shared within the kindreds and nobody interlocks with another person’s title as none is hereditary, they rotate within the families.”

“Only one title is hereditary because we operate what is known as the monarchical system, that is the kingship. The kingship move from father to the first son, not second. We operate the ‘Diokpaship’, the eldest. So for an insane man to come up and say he is assuming when he is not from my kindred, I think that person knows the consequences”.

He added that “It’s sacrilegious for you to even think of it, not to talk of assuming it. As far as I am concerned and the community, nobody assumes that position when I am still alive even when the person is from my kindred because we do not have two ‘Onishe’ at a time as two kings cannot be on the throne.”

Chief Ejiofor, however, called on the community to remain resolute as they have their king, the first son of the Obi Edward Ofulue ll,( Umuogochukwu Edward Ofulue )
