The member representing Ndokwa East at the Board of Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, DESOPADEC Chief Dr Charles Olisa has given scholarship to twenty Indigent students of Ndokwa extraction studying at Bellarks Polytechnic, Kwale.
The beneficiaries who are in year one (ND 1) of their programme were drawn from Ndokwa East, Ndokwa West and Ukwuani local governments in various fields of human endeavour.
Among the beneficiaries were Onajuke Gift, Egwunatu Happy, Obiosa Precious Ashinedu, Igwenmadu Samuel Ogerenya, Chukwuemeka Chioma, Enuebuke James Chidera, Ossai Solomon Anene and Odili Success Ogochukwu. Others are Nduka Emmanuel Alenu, Owen Oluebube Mercy, Sunday Kelvin Chidera, Nwakude Ekene Prosper, Nwabueze Oluchukwu Jnr and Asemabiru Prince among others.
Speaking at the presentation of the award to the beneficiaries held at the school premises, the Rector Dr ACS Egbule said “using this occasion, I would want to stress how important it is for the political elites of Ndokwa land and Bellarks Polytechnic to work together in order to improve the development of human capital. Working together, the leaders of Ndokwa and our institution can put policies and programs into place that will support the region’s education and skill development even more.” “Together, we can give our young people greater chances and give them the tools they need to realize their full potential.”

In the words of HRM Barr Augustine Oghenejabor Emenugo 1 the Odiologbo of Ibrede Kingdom he said he was not surprised at the pioneering and pragmatic roles of Dr Olisa, stressing that Ndokwa nation need people like him to grow. “He has always shown tremendous knack for man-management.”
Elder Hon Emmanuel Onyeukwu a member of Delta State Advisory Council congratulated Dr Charles Olisa for leaping a giant stride by sponsoring Indigent students of Ndokwa extraction. “Education is the best legacy one can bequeath a child. Many students dropped out of school because of lack of sponsorship.” He therefore tasked the beneficiaries to show commitment to their book work.
Towing the line of Elder Onyeukwu, another member of Delta State Advisory Council Prince Igwe Nzekwe said never had Ndokwa East had it real good like the representation of Chief Dr Charles Olisa. He urged those that style themselves as ‘Empowerment Master’ to take a que from Dr Charles Olisa. “He is humble down to earth and a pacesetter. He encourages the recipients to take advantage of the opportunity and encourage the sponsor by passing out in flying colour.
Speaking from the background of a teacher, the Chairman, Nigeria Union of Teachers, NUT Ndokwa East Branch Lady Comrd F.E. Ajusah said “Education is key to national development and that Dr Charles Olisa has created an enduring legacy in the life of the beneficiaries. She encouraged awardees especially the female ones not to be carried away by mundane things but to show the light for others to see.

Addressing the crowd that thronged to witness the occasion, Dr Charles Olisa said “today, we gather here to witness an activity that may look simple to some persons but which is very significant because of what it intends to address and achieve.”
“Twenty young men and women drawn from the three Local Government Areas that make up Ndokwa/Ukwuani Federal Constituency, who despite being intelligent and with good O Level results have not been able to access tertiary education due to their straitened circumstances occasioned by the country’s poor economy, will have their candle of hope lit with this scholarship scheme. We congratulate them and enjoin them to make good use of this opportunity. We also wish to disabuse their minds from the ‘School na Scam’ slogan of many a youth of today. There is nothing true and there will never be any truth in it. The pen will always be mightier than the sword.”

That is why we do not consider any sacrifice to get a mind educated too high. An educated mind is useful, not just to himself but to society at large. So, the more educated persons we have among us the better for all of us.”

Beaming with a charming smile, the Registrar of the school, Mr Ayeni announced to the crowd that the school fees of the beneficiaries have been paid, a development that charged the environment with parents showering encomiums on Dr Olisa.
He also announced that the Visitor of the school Pastor Joseph Ebinum has approved the award of Patron to Dr Charles Olisa. The award would be bestowed on him at a later date
Among the dignitaries that graced the occasion were HRM Barr Augustine Oghenejabor Emenugo 1 Odiologbo of Ibrede Kingdom, HRM Dr Isaac Erube Uvo Ozu 11 of Igbuku Kingdom, HRM Isaac O. Ajawobu Uloho 11 the Odiologbo of Onogboko Kingdom, Chief Obi Agadaga, Chief Patrick Ogeleka, Chief Dennis Ekelina, Chief Mrs Gina Eke, Chief Moses Ifeluwa and Chief Azubike Ironzue.
Others were Elder Hon Emmanuel Onyeukwu, Prince Igwe Nzekwe, a delegation of Rotary Club, Market Women and Men Association, Nigeria Union of Teachers, NUT Ndokwa East Branch, Hostcom members (Ndokwa East) among others.
The high point was facility tour of the school and presentation of Admission Letter to the beneficiaries.
