Gunmen have killed the Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Plateau State, Sylvanus Namang.
It was gathered that the gunmen attacked a pub in the Pankshin Local Government Area of the state on Saturday, February 17, 2024, and killed Namang and one other person.
A chieftain of the APC who spoke on condition of anonymity, confirmed Namang’s death to Punch in Jos on Sunday.
“Yes, it’s true. We have lost our spokesman, Sylvanus Namang. From what I was told, he went to Pankshin for a burial on Saturday. Afterward, he went to buy something at an eatery in the locality,” the source said.
“Suddenly, some armed people came to the place and shot at him and one other person. He later succumbed to the injuries sustained and died.
“I learnt that the other victim, who is said to be a businessman, also died from the gunshot wounds.”
The source, which described Namang’s death as shocking, called on security agents to fish out those behind the killings in the interest of justice.
Namang was one time director with the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) where he served as General Manager of Lafia FM Radio for four years.
He also worked with the late Deputy Senate President, Senator Ibrahim Mantu as his Chief Press secretary.
