Delta State House Assembly has scheduled on Tuesday 30 of April 2024 for a public hearing on a bill for a law to repeal and re-enact the Administration of Urban and Regional Planning, Urban Development, Urban Renewal and Building Control activities in the state.
The Chairman, House Committee on Urban Renewal, Hon (Chief) Pereotu Oloye, said the public hearing will hold at the Press Centre, State Assembly complex, Okpanam road, Asaba beginning at 11:30 am, in statement.
The statement noted that “the committee will welcome contributions either written or verbal from interested organizations or individuals including Ministries of Justice, Urban Renewal, Land and Survey as well as Environment.
Pereotu said the public hearing which is in pursuance of the committee’s mandate, would also entertain and welcome contributions both written and oral from interested persons, organizations and other relevant professional bodies and stakeholders.
The Lawmaker stated that all memoranda should be enclosed in sealed envelopes addressed to the Committee on Urban Renewal and marked “Delta State Administration of Urban and Regional Planning, Urban Renewal and Building Control activities Bill, 2024”.
Oloye urged persons, organizations and MDAs wishing to make oral testimony to contact the Clerk of the Committee, Mr Obey John on 08034550025 or at the State House of Assembly Complex, Okpanam road, Asaba between 9am and 2pm.
The State Assembly at its sitting on Tuesday 26 March, 2024, read the bill for the second time and consequently referred it to the Committee on Urban Renewal for further Legislative actions.
The Speaker, Rt Hon Emomotimi Dennis Guwor directed the Committee to turn in its report within two weeks.
