In a resounding display of unity and support, the leadership of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Udu Local Government Area of Delta State has endorsed Olorogun Vincent Ogheneruemu Oyibode, JP, FCIA, as the consensus candidate for the upcoming Delta State Local Government elections, slated for July 13th, 2024. The decision was made today Monday, 13/05/24 during an enlarged meeting of the party presided over by PDP Chairman, Evang David Siloko at the Party’s Secretariat, Otor-Udu.
Evang Siloko emphasized the importance of selecting Olorogun Oyibode, citing his proven track record as a unifier and a neutral figure among the 20 initial chairmanship aspirants. The motion for adopting Oyibode as the consensus candidate was proposed by Hon. Chief Donald Brosu, a fellow aspirant, and seconded by Chief Luke Djeba also an aspirant who further cemented the party’s endorsement of Oyibode’s candidacy.
In his response, Olorogun Vincent Oyibode expressed heartfelt gratitude for the trust and confidence reposed in him by the party leadership. He pledged to prioritize peace, security, and development in alignment with the MORE agenda of the Delta State Governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori
The endorsement of Oyibode underscores the PDP’s dedication to presenting a united front and strengthening its electoral prospects in the forthcoming local government elections.
Additionally, during the meeting, a vote of confidence was passed on Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, for his commendable efforts in governance. Governor Oborevwori’s administration was applauded for its significant achievements, including the appointment of Udu PDP members, progress on the ultra-modern Udu Harbour Market project, and other developmental strides across Delta State.
The vote of confidence motion was initiated by the immediate past Leader of the Udu Legislative Arm, Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Owholo, and seconded by Mrs. Okiemute Dukuye, highlighting widespread appreciation for Governor Oborevwori’s impactful leadership.
The passage of this vote of confidence reflects the overwhelming approval of Governor Oborevwori’s governance style and his commitment to driving inclusive development and progress within Delta State. Hon. Siloko Set up reconciliation committee headed by Hon. Barrister Andrew Orugbo with the task of engaging the 20 aspirants who initially expressed interest in the chairmanship position.
The primary objective of this committee is to foster reconciliation and strengthen unity within the party, especially as preparations intensify for the 2027 general elections.
