Austen Ben-Chioma, the Commissioner for Environment in Rivers State, has resigned from Governor Sim Fubara’s government.
Ben-Chioma is the third commissioner to resign from his position today, May 15, after the peace agreement between Governor Fubara and FCT minister, Nyesom Wike collapsed.
Ben-Chioma was one of the commissioners who resigned in December 2023 when the cracks in the relationship between Wike and Fubara were made public.
Following an intervention between President Bola Tinubu, both camps returned and signed a peace accord.
But, in recent weeks, the verbal attacks between the Fubara and Wike camps intensified, causing commissioners loyal to Wike to resign.
