It was celebration galore on Wednesday 5th of June 2024, when the immediate past Governor of Delta State, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa and the incumbent Deputy Governor, Sir Monday Onyeme felicitate with the Rector of Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwahi-uku, Bldr Professor Emmanuel Achuenu on his 60th birthday.
The birthday celebration which was marked in grand style took place at Orchid Hotel, Asaba, Delta State Capital with families, friends, Dons, business men and women from all walks of life.
Speaking at the occasion, the chairman for both the book launch and birthday celebration, the immediate past Governor, Sen.(Dr.) Ifeanyi Okowa, who was ably represented by the DG, Delta State Capital Territory, Chief Patrick Ukah described the celebrant as a man who is hardworking, jolly fellow and a professional to the core in his career.
Okowa said, “at the age of 60, life begins, that there is a different feeling the Prof has today (Wednesday) celebrating his birthday with families, friends, well-wishers, saying he believes that God will definitely bless him more”.
Okowa added, ” if you know Prof. Emmanuel Achuenu very well, you will know that he is a jolly fellow, a very hardworking man, and he is professional to the core. We have come here today to celebrate with him and pray that God will give him a long life, we have come to celebrate with him, to enjoy with him”.
Earlier, during the book launch, Okowa commended the wife of the Rector, Tpl. Dr. (Mrs.) Ache Stella Achuenu for taking time to put down the three different books, ABC’s of Tourism, Elements of Urban Planning and History of Urban and Regional Planning which is of immense impact to the society at large.
Ex-Governor Okowa noted that “the three books; ABC’s of Tourism, Elements of Urban Planning and History of Urban and Regional Planning are books that must be read and shouldn’t be for only academic consumption, adding that the three books contain facts that citizens must know all it entails in building, and town planning.
Okowa stressed” a lot of people have built without the approval of planning, that some have built below water and road level, and urged all individual to join hands with the state government to build a befitting city that we all will be proud off”.
While appreciating all that came, the celebrant, and Rector of Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwahi-Uku, Bldr. Professor Emmanuel Achuenu expressed profound gratitude to His Excellency, Sen. Okowa and Deputy Governor of the state, Chief Monday Onyeme for finding time to come and celebrate with even their tight schedules and other principal Officers who were in attendance.
Prof. Achuenu said ” he was really overwhelmed at the feast of love shown to him, saying words won’t be enough to appreciate all.
” I couldn’t believe when I entered the hall for the ceremony, it was wonderful, marvelous, and beautiful, from the brain work, the design, and even the finances”, I know it was the plan of my beauty wife, and the immediate past Governor of the state must also have a hand in the plan, including the deputy governor”, he said
Prof. Achuenu also thanked all the polytechnic staff and family for finding time to come out to celebrate with him on his 60th birthday even after the book launch of his wife, he prayed that God will imminently bless all.
