Oborevwori Empowers 50 Visually Impaired Persons, 20 Immigrants Returnees

As part of keeping to his promise, Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori on Tuesday doled out grants to 50 Visually Impaired Persons and 20 Immigrants returnees to support their respective businesses across the state.

Presenting the grant at the State Secretariat, Asaba, the Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs, Community Support Services and Girl Child Development, Hon. Orode Uduagha said His Excellency MORE GRANT SCHEME is to support small business owners to boost their businesses.

Orode said, the Sate Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori is interested in the categories of people with special needs, and the Association of the Blind and immigrants returnees falls under these categories

The commissioner warned that whatever ” the state government is giving to you should be invested into your business to grow, and not for the purpose of buying ashobi for party, it is important to put the money into your businesses”.

Hon. Orode disclosed that a monitoring team will be going around within the next three months for evaluation to ensure that the grant is properly utilized for the businesses.

She noted that more grant will be given to those who successfully utilize and grow his or her business within the period of the first circle.

While appreciating the kind gesture of the State Governor, the Secretary of the Association of the blind, Delta state chapter, Mr. Azubike Obah commended the Oborevwori for keeping to his promise of being Governor for all Deltans and the Hon Commissioner for thinking about them, promising that they will make judicious use of the grant as directed.

Also speaking during an interview, the chairman of Nigeria Association of the blind, Delta state chapter, Mr. Edirin Edison, said words will not be enough to express gratitude to His Excellency for the empowerment, that the grant will impact greatly and enhance the business of members.
