The Chairman, Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC Barr Chiedu Ebie was at Ogume today on courtesy call. The visit was at the instance of Barr Leonard Anoka.
The visit turned a carnival of sort as many political groups, party faithfuls, pressure groups and community leaders were on hand to receive the August visitor.
Earlier in his address, the chief host, Barr Leonard Anoka thanked his teeming supporters for being beside him and the party, APC. He promised a mother of all empowerment in few months to come for the two federal wards in Ogume. He also charged the followers to vote APC candidates in the forthcoming council elections.
Barr Anoka used the occasion of the visit to make a humble request about the light issue in Ogume. “For over two years my people are in perpetual darkness occasioned by transformer theft.”
Responding, the NDDC Chairman asked Ogume people to appreciate their son for being there for them all the time. “From what I gathered he was the one that attracted this befitting town hall. He has been disturbing me about the plight of Ogume and he is not someone I can pay deaf ears to.”
He said in few months to come the vandalized transformer would be replaced and there would be light in Ogume. He also promised to send in street lights for the entire Ogume community as requested by Hon Kennedy Igba.
The LGA Chairman of APC Chief Greg Onah, Chief Dennis Okoh, alias Denco and Chief Ifeanyi Oju alias Ekpute showered encomiums on both Barr Leonard Anoka and the NDDC Chairman. It was indeed a great visit.
