The Executive Chairman of Ukwuani Local Government, Hon (Barr) C.S Possible Ajede, has emphasized the importance of pragmatism in the leadership of Local Government Councils in Delta State.
The Capacity #DoMoreAgenda Torchbearer made this call during his address at the 2-Day Workshop organized for Chairmen and Vice Chairmen of Local Government Councils in Delta State on the theme: Effective Leadership.
Barr Ajede, who also serves as the Delta State ALGON Treasurer, on behalf of ALGON, Delta State, commended His Excellency, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, the Executive Governor of Delta State and the Directorate of Local Government Affairs for organizing the workshop. He described it as timely in providing the chairmen and their vice with requisite knowledge and understanding of their constitutional responsibilities to the citizens.
The savvy lawyer who represented the Delta State ALGON Chairman emphasized that the autonomy granted to the 774 LGs in the country was aimed at fostering multifaceted development at the grassroots level.
He therefore admonished the chairmen, their vice and Councils’ management to prepare themselves for the enormous responsibility that comes with LG Autonomy.
Barr Ajede in his remarks also noted that effective leadership revolves around the ability of leaders to inspire, empower, and pursue practical and realistic goals aimed at benefiting the majority of citizens.
According to him, the LG Autonomy entails responsibilities, and LG executives should leverage the knowledge gained from the workshop to enhance productivity and effectiveness in decision-making within their respective LGAs.
Meanwhile, Barr Ajede has reassured the Governor Sheriff and the Directorate of Local Government Affairs that the workshop’s impact would be evident throughout the state, leading to tangible and laudable developmental progress in the various councils.
