Following the recent flood alert issued by the Federal Government, Delta state Government has restated it readiness and preparations ahead of the warning in case there would be any eventuality.
The co-chairman, flood committee and commissioner for Bureau for Special Duties Delta state, Mr. Etagherure Ejiro Terry disclosed this in Asaba.
He said Governor Oborevwori is determined to protect all citizens of the state by assuring Deltans that the flood committee set up by the governor are men who are capable and experienced.
He said the government has set up various IDPs camps, especially in the most affected areas that are prone to flooding, adding “paraventure the flood comes, it will not take Delta unaware because we have prepared for it”.
According to him, “am glad that you are not unaware that a committee has been set up by the Governor regarding the flood”.
” I want to assure Deltans that the Governor has the interest in protecting all the citizens of the state, and the calibre of men in the committee are capable men with experience coupled with my agency SEMA”
“ We are prepared, and i can assure you if I take you to our warehouse, there are numerous materials that have been purchased in preparation for the flood, the ministries involved too are also be well-informed, for instance, the ministry of Education, for teaching,Health,for healt related issues, and Environment”.
He advised those living in the flood prone zone to move ahead of time to avoid overtaken by the flood, saying the government has put in a lot of jungles, advertisement to inform them ahead of time.
