....we are out to educate, inform, sensitize & update

Festus Okubor advised not to stoke conflict in Peaceful Delta North with his Letter to PDP State Chairman

Sep 20, 2024

By Comrade Gloria Okolugbo

It is with great concern that we are yet again constrained to respond to the Social media letter by Festus Okubor, which suggests that Delta State is on the verge of becoming a battlefield.

The urgency and tone of this letter reflects an unfortunate clear attempt to stoke unnecessary tensions within our political landscape. One would expect a political figure of many years standing, like Okubor to educate and orientate his fellow party boys , from an informed point perspective, and not to fan the flames of division with sensational and inflammatory rhetoric.

The Ndokwa Nation and other well-meaning Deltans cannot help but notice the cheap shot delivered in this letter. It is disappointing to witness such a low blow, especially from someone in a position to encourage constructive dialogue rather than sow discord.

The state’s interests should always come first, and we must not allow overarching need for relevance to cloud our judgment.

To clarify the position of Senator Ned Nwoko, at no point has the senator implied that the Government should not pursue development projects in the Southern and Central Senatorial districts.

The essence of his argument is that Delta State, blessed with increased federal allocations and other revenue streams, can responsibly undertake these projects either by direct financing or through partnerships such as Public-Private Partnerships (PPP). Alternatively, the state government can provide guarantees to secure external financing for these initiatives, ensuring that development is equitable and sustainable across all regions of the state.

Dr Okubor certainly doesn’t come under the class of ill informed aides, and this altogether makes it even more pathetic that he should swim so low in murchy Waters.

Senator Ned commits to never abandon his people to continue without a voice after commiting to become their voice. The insults fuel even greater determination to wipe the tears of his people. Okubor is advised to focus on uniting our people and fostering progress, rather than engaging in divisive narratives that serve no productive purpose.

Let us not allow personal or political interests to overshadow the collective good of Delta State.

Delta State deserves leadership that prioritizes development over political grandstanding. Let us move forward with that mindset.
