Delta State Government, has commended the Zenith Bank PLC for their unwavering support and sponsorship of the Headmasters’ Cup Football Competition in the state.
The State Commissioner for Primary Education, Dr. Kingsley Ashibogwu gave the commendation in Asaba during a press briefing for the commencement of the 2024 edition of the Zenith Bank/Delta Headmasters’ Cup Football Competition.
Dr. Ashibogwu said that the Zenith Bank’s consistency in promoting grassroots sports development in the state was commendable, stressing that the state government was proud to have them as partners.
He stated that the state government was committed to raising the bar even higher in providing a platform for young athletes to showcase their skills and foster a sense of unity and pride among stakeholders.
Earlier, the Branch Manager /Chief Business Strategist, Zenith Bank PLC, Asaba, Dr. Ifeanyi Atama said that the tournament had not only been about sports but has fostered stronger community ties .
He stated that the presence of local supporters , parents , teachers and students at every match had created a sense of unity and pride with football becoming a tool for strengthening relationship within the state.
Dr. Atama mentioned that zenith bank had contributed in recognizing and rewarding excellence through their sponsorship, adding that precious winners and outstanding players had received financial and material gifts from the Bank .
The Zenith Bank Branch Manager, who asserted that many players had used the tournament as a springboard to showcase their talents on more prominent platforms where they were flourishing, noted that in addition to their financial inclusion , their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) encompassed sports development in the state.
He emphasized that as proud sponsors , the Bank was excited to continue to support the Zenith Bank/Delta Headmasters’Cup Football Competition, saying that the sponsorship was pivotal in nurturing young football talents across the state.
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, Mr. Augustine Oghoro, represented by the Director of Finance and Accounts (Secondary) , Mr. Daniel Akiri lauded Zenith Bank PLC for their partnership in sports development in the state especially through the Zenith Bank/Delta Headmasters’Cup Football Competition.
