Delta Speaker, Guwor Acknowledge The Role Of The Media In Nation Building

The Speaker of Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Dennis Emomotimi Guwor on Wednesday 25 of September 2024, acknowledged the vital role the media played in nation’s building and vowed to continue to partner with them to promote and sustain the MORE Agenda of the state Governor.

The Speaker who was flayed by his Deputy and other members of the state House described Journalists as major stakeholders when he received members of the indigenous correspondent chapel, of the Nigeria Union of journalists, Delta state council, in his office, Asaba, the state capital.

Addressing Journalists, Guwor expressed satisfaction with journalists, especially in the coverage of activities within the Assembly and the state in general.

According to him; “Journalists are great stakeholders in the activities of the state Assembly, and we will continue to partner with you to change the narrativeā€.

Hon. Guwor also harped on the Anti-Grazing Law, saying it implementation is within the purview of the Executive, revealing that there is already a compliance committee that is headed by the Deputy speaker and working to ensure it is implemented.

Earlier in his welcome address, the chairman of Indigenous Correspondent Chapel, Comrade Kenneth Orusi, commended the speaker for his exemplary leadership quality and the most effective legislature across Nigeria in the past one year.

The Chairman, Comrade Orusi, disclosed that the aim of the visit is to partner and work closely with the House to disseminate information to the grassroot people.

While he appealed to the speaker and the House to give backing and support to the Governor in ensuring that the newly created Directorate of Riverine Infrastructure becomes a substantial ministry.
