The Rector Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwashi Uku Prof Emmanuel Achuenu was yesterday in his office bestowed with an award by Federated Union of Ndokwa Students, FUNS Ogwashi Uku chapter.
Presenting the award, the President of FUNS Ogwashi Uku chapter Comrade Odu Chukwunalu Precious said Prof Achuenu deserves the award because since he stepped his feet in the school as the Rector there are unprecedented developments and there has been total peace in the school. “The Rector is detribalized and a nation builder”.
Speaking further, the President said if it were possible to extend the tenure the students will mobilize to Government House, Asaba to lobby for him to be retained for another term because he has shown himself approved. “One good thing about the school since he became the Rector is that all the courses have been accredited by National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).
Responding, the recipient of the award, Prof Achuenu thanked the group for finding him worthy of being given an award. He used the occasion to appreciate the students for their show of love maintaining decorum and respecting constituted authorities in the school. “This award would spur me for further developmental strides,”
The Director of Academic Planning of the school, Dr Steve Oseafiana who was there during the presentation of the award said Prof Achuenu is an award winner all days. He is workaholic, quite intelligent, sociable and very courageous.”
