In a desperate bid to reduce idle moment and youth restiveness, one of the greatest philanthropists of our time Mrs Ifeoma Aguba Fadahunsi has risen to the occasion by using her Foundation to salvage the situation.

Through Ifeoma Aguba Fadahunsi Foundation, she inaugurated a training program under the auspices of Ifeoma Skills Acquisition Program. The inauguration ceremony held on Saturday, October 19, 2024 at Owesse Primary School, Utagba Ogbe, Ndokwa West Local Government.

The Foundation would undertake the training of over 100 youths carefully selected across the three local governments – Ndokwa West, East and Ukwuani Local Governments. They would be trained in different fields of human endeavours namely Hair Dressing, Fashion Designing, Photography, Bead making, Computer Training etc.

Each of the local governments has training centres where the artisans would undergo the training of their choice as contained in their registration form. Supervisors were also assigned to each of the centres to ensure that the training is running as planned. They would see that the trainees are on ground for the training and the trainers also are doing their best possible to impact on the trainees.

After the training, starter packs including monetary value and certificate would be given to the trainees. All the trainees were assigned to their trainers and also given training kits including customized T-shirts.

Asked why she decided to embark on such a laudable but highly capital intensive philanthropic gesture, Mrs Ifeoma Aguba Fadahunsi who spoke to the Press through Nneka Aguba said this is one of the sure ways she could add value to humanity and impact on the society. She said God has been so faithful to her family and realizing that the best form of empowerment is human capital development. “If they didn’t go to school for obvious reasons you cannot foreclose any other opportunity rather offer them the opportunity to be trained in different fields and eke a living. The worst case scenario is not impacting on them or allowing them to idle away.”
Speaking to Ndokwa Vanguard, one of the beneficiaries of the training Miss Angel Adishi said she was so excited to be enlisted among the people to be trained. She said when they were told of the opportunity and given form to fill, her friends did not embrace the opportunity rather they thought it was scam. “I just said there is no harm in trying.”

She promised to make the best use of the opportunity so that the benefactor would be proud of her.

In the same vein, one of the Trainers on Hair Dressing, Miss Nneka Uti promised to give out her best by ensuring that those under her tutelage are well off to the envy of others.

The ceremony was well attended even though government functionaries in Ndokwa were conspicuously missing save for Ndokwa East chairman who was represented by the Secretary to the Local Government. No political office holder from Ndokwa West Local Government attended the occasion even though it held in their domain.
