Dr Robert Onyemaechi Uzu the President General of Umuebu Development Union, UDU has tendered resignation letter. The resignation letter was dated October 15, 2024. The letter was addressed to the Acting Deputy President General, Umuebu Development Union and made available to the Press.
He stated in the letter that one of the reasons for vacating the office voluntarily was consistent interference in the union’s activities from the palace.
The letter read in parts, “The Palace frequently attempted to impose its directives on me, which conflicted with my conscience and my vision for the development of my kingdom. I could not, in good faith, participate in activities that I believe would not contribute positively to our community’s growth. In response, certain members of the national executive and other individuals were mobilized against me, undermining my efforts and depriving me of the respect, collaboration and synergy needed to achieve the union’s objectives.”
“Throughout my tenure, I have faced an unfavourable and hostile working environment, one fraut with covert opposition and individuals acting with hidden agenda.”
“I can no longer align myself with a union that has been co-opted by external influence from the Palace. I cannot be a part of an organization that I believe is no longer working towards the true development of Umuebu.”
“Nevertheless, I remain deeply grateful to the members of the Umuebu Development Union and the wider community for the privilege and opportunity to serve.
As a proud son of the land, I have always been committed to advancing the interests of our beloved community and I will continue to do so in whatever capacity I can.”
Ndokwa Vanguard could not reach the palace for comment as at Press time.
A copy each of the letter was sent to The Ebu of Umuebu kingdom, The Okpala Uku-in-Council, The Onotu Uku of Umuebu kingdom, The Executive Chairman, Ukwuani Local Government Area, Chairman of President Generals, Ukwuani Local Government Area and Umuebu youths.
