In a collaborative effort to address pressing issues affecting Southern Nigerian youth, the Southern Nigeria Youth Congress, in partnership with the Federal Ministry of Youth Development, held a Stakeholders’ Converge in Abuja. The event brought together a diverse group of young Nigerians, from students and recent graduates to small business owners and entrepreneurs, many of whom face significant challenges in their efforts to make a living.
Various Government officials and representatives in Paliament also Graced the ocassion.
The high point of the event was an engaging session led by Senator Ned Munir Nwoko, who, fresh from a constituency visit, took time to connect directly with the attendees. Over a two-hour interactive session, Senator Nwoko shared insights, answered questions, and proposed actionable solutions to address the challenges faced by young Nigerians.
In his address, the Senator emphasized the link between youth unemployment and national security, stressing the importance of providing sustainable opportunities for young people. He highlighted that an empowered, economically secure youth is essential for a safer and more prosperous society.
Senator Nwoko also discussed economic policies, including the importance of strengthening the national currency. He advocated for encouraging social media organizations to set up offices in Nigeria, which he suggested could create jobs, support local businesses, and contribute to economic stability by ensuring compliance with local standards. He noted that he has introduced several bills in the Senate, targeting youth empowerment, economic reform, and improved security.
In recognition of his legislative contributions and dedication to youth advocacy, the organizers presented Senator Nwoko with an award honouring his legislative prowess. Additionally, the Senator offered his support to the event by donating the sum of ₦5 million to the organizers, a gesture that was met with appreciation and applause from attendees.
In their remarks, participants stated that they had been highly inspired and hopeful, with many expressing gratitude for Senator Nwoko’s commitment to addressing their challenges and for his willingness to invest in the youth of Southern Nigeria. They affirmed support for his Youth friendly bills and commitment to building a better Nigeria.
