Nov 16, 2024

First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu has urged market women across Nigeria to avoid unfairly increasing food prices as the festive season approaches. Speaking at the 2024 Ebonyi Women’s Day Celebration in Abakaliki, she appealed for restraint in price hikes, emphasizing the importance of affordability for all Nigerians during the yuletide.

“With the Yuletide season fast approaching, I want to plead with all our market women to refrain from unfair hikes in the prices of food items during the festive season,” Mrs. Tinubu said during the event, held at the Pa Ngele Oruta Township Stadium.

In addition to her appeal, Mrs. Tinubu supported women entrepreneurs in Ebonyi State through her Renewed Hope Initiative by donating ₦50 million, along with 20,000 wrappers, shoes, and bags. Governor Francis Nwifuru also announced empowerment grants to further support women in the state.
