Delta state ministry of Oil and Gas on Wednesday debunked allegations of the ministry’s involvement in registering illegal retailers and resale gas outlets in residential areas across the state, while challenging anyone peddling the allegations that staff of the ministry were cutting corners.

Addressing journalists at the state Secretariat, the commissioner for Oil and Gas, Hon. According to the commissioner; “I challenged anyone peddling rumours that staff of my ministry were cutting corners to encourage shady operations to come up with verifiable evidence”

“We have a mandate to ensure the safety and best practices of businesses in this sector and will go to any length to sanction any erring business concern”.

“As we speak, l have ordered my inspectorate officials to seal up the place as well as any other illegal gas retail outfit operating in residential areas”

The commissioner noted that under his watch those illegal gas outfits operating without the ministry’s permit, will be shutdown and adhere to the best corporate practices of registering with the ministry as well as being bonafide members of National Association of Cooking Gas Marketers ( NACGM).

He continued, that the era of explosions due to the illegal operations of these unlawful outfits in high density residential areas must be stopped
