As Nigeria joins the global community in celebrating International Women’s Day 2025, Nollywood Actress, Hon. Chief Amb. Dame, Rita Daniels Chukwuji and the former leader of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo Women Wing has charged Women across the country to stand up and play a vital role in shaping our society.
Hon. Rita in her congratulatory message to the Women, emphasized the collective role women must play in shaping a more inclusive and equitable society.
Rita applaud Nigerian women for their strength, resilience, and creativity, emphasising their vital contributions to society.
She noted that this year’s IWD theme, “Invest in Women. Accelerate Action,” is a call to break systemic barriers, create opportunities, and ensure full female participation in all spheres of life.
She emphasized the need for sustained advocacy on women’s rights and empowerment. She encouraged women to actively participate in development efforts and called for greater opportunities for them to serve in leadership roles to drive gender equality forward
Hon. Chukwuji reiterated the importance of achieving the 35% affirmative action for women’s representation in governance. She urged policymakers to involve women in decision-making processes, particularly in policies that directly affect them.
She highlighted the persistent neglect of women in various sectors. She called for a shift in societal attitudes and encouraged women to prioritize their personal development, mental well-being, and physical health to make a greater impact on their families and communities.
Hon. Rita who has played pivotal role in rallying support among women and a strong advocate for women’s rights appeal to every woman to accelerate in their career.
She said; “On behalf of my family and esteem followers, I extend my warmest greetings to all Nigerian women, celebrating their strength, resilience, and creativity, and acknowledging the vital role they play in shaping society.
“The success and peace of every home lies in the hands of the woman in that home, therefore I called on women to uplift and empower one another in the pursuit of gender equality and progress.
“I believe it is time for women to take charge of their destinies and support one another in breaking down obstacles to success.
“Women I celebrate you, keep doing what you have to do, lift your heads high, happy International women’s Day,” she said.
“Once again, I congratulates and celebrate the strength, resilience, and achievements of Nigerian women across various sectors, acknowledging their invaluable contributions to nation-building.”
