Delta State Government has presented relief assistance to the victims of fire disaster in Boji-Boji Owa in Ika North East, Asaba in Oshimili South and Odd Gborode in Warri South West Local Government Areas
Presenting the relief assistance, the commissioner for Bureau for Special Duties, Hon. Etacherure Ejiro Terry, said, the state Governor, conveyed his empathy to the families of the victims of the fire disaster.
He disclosed that the financial assistance from the state government was to ameliorate the plight of the victims.
He said, “this financial assistance from the State Government to ameliorate your plight as a result of the unfortunate incidents hoping it will go a long way to reduce the effect of the disaster”
While noting that the relief presentation was in line with His Excellency’s commitment to the welfare of Deltans through the M.O.R.E Agenda.
The Honourable Commissioner expressed appreciation to the Governor for providing the necessary platform to ensuring that SEMA is able to respond effectively to various disasters across the State.
The Commissioner also thanked the Governor for his kind-heartedness towards Deltans, and for his gracious approval and release of funds for the victims who lost their properties and means of livelihood at different fire disasters.
The Chief nodal officer of disaster management in the State, commended the victims of the fire disaster for their patience noting that the financial assistance is not a compensation for the losses suffered but a way of identifying with the victims and providing succour from the effects of the disaster.
Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, Engr. Eric Ohen expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Governor for this concern for the welfare of all Deltans, noting that the kind gesture will go a long way in cushioning the effect of the disaster in their homes and livelihoods.
