Wilkie, who made the call during a 2-day stakeholders consultation workshop, held at the state Secretariat in Asaba for the development of action plans for components of the Delta State WASH sector policy, institutional and regulatory action plan.
The commissioner reiterated the importance of water with the popular saying that ‘water is life’, insisting that all hands must be on deck to correct every abnormality in the minds of every water user.
He said; “I want to encourage all of you. This is another opportunity to contribute to the water sector. Policy is a very important part of any organization. There are things that you thought of at the beginning , and a lot became personal as time progressed. So, there’s a need for review”
He continued;”All of you need to be involved. The water sector has been a very sensitive sector. You all know that water is life and it involves virtually everybody. Yes, for us at the Ministry, we should be able to provide quality water.”
Wilkie, however, hopeful that the training will be greatly impactful in the lives of every participant as they utilize their potential in promoting proper hygiene for longevity of life.
“I am sure that all of those things that agitate the minds of staff is training and retraining, and there is no training that is not important. When you attend any function, what you get from there, may not be what I get, but you must take something from the place because all of these things will be useful when you don’t expect it at all.”
