Residents of Ibusa Community, in Oshimili North Localb Government Area of Delta state, have applauded the council chairman, Innocent Esewezie, for the introduction of Ibusa Community Police, saying it has drastically reduced the crime rate in the community.
Some community members who spoke with newsmen commended Esewezie for attracting development to the community, especially the construction of internal roads within the community to ease movement of motorists, businesses, and others.
A community member identified as Mr. Tony narrated the bad shape of Umueze road, saying it was unaccessible before the intervention of the local council chairman, “for the past years, the Umueze road had been in bad condition, it was never motorable. But, since the construction of the road, it has rained twice, everywhere is okay and smooth. The water is flowing freely, the drainage is okay, everything is fine. “
“I appreciate the council chairman for coming down to the community to construct the road. He did a wonderful work.”
Another community member, Madam Patricia, who is a petty trader, also explained how unaccessible the road was before the construction of the road. She said, “Before now, the road was inaccessible and it was affecting our market, especially when it rains. But now the road is very fine, and the water is going straight and can not enter the market again.”
On the part of security, community members took turns to air their views saying;
Tony: the Ibusa Community Police have been performing excellently in the discharge of their duty, and they are doing everything possible to fish out the bad men in our midst.
BECKY OKOLIE: “The ICP has revived us from the fear of being kidnapped in the community. Their response to crime is quicker than the Nigerian Police. You will not hear a complaint of no fuel in the vehicle.”
DENNIS EMIGENE: The ICP is reducing crime gradually, but the crime is still there. Though they are trying their best because they are humans too. The LGC has done well by introducing Community Police. If not for his intervention, criminal activities would be on the rise, and nobody will be here in the community. I suggest that they undergo training and retraining for them to effectively carry out their duties.
