Women and party faithful from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State have on Sunday threw their support for the defection of the local government council Chairman, Hon. Innocent Ifeanyi Esewezie, to the All Progressive Congress (APC).
The party faithful gave their support during a meeting convened by Hon Esewezie at his residence in Ibusa, Oshimili North Local Government Area.
The women and party faithful from the PDP, who came out in their numbers, also declared their intention to defect with the Chairman to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Addressing his supporters, Hon. Esewezie said the reasons for the mass detection was as a result of the challenges befalling the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party at the National level and likewise compelling the leadership of the state to take necessary decision.
Esewezie maintained that Governor Sheriff vision and policy for progress had resonated deeply with creating a strong desire to align with his political direction.
According to him; “Governor Oborevwori’s leadership has demonstrated a commitment to progress and development that we can not ignore.”
“His dedication to the welfare of our people and his strategic approach to governance has convinced us that the APC is the right platform for us to advance our community’s interests.”
Adding separately, the Local Government PDP Chairman, Sir Joseph Ijeh stressed on the importance of following the party leadership’s direction and urged party faithful to remain steadfast in their commitment, and emphasized the collective strength of their solidarity.
Ijeh said, “the mass defection is expected to have significant political implications for Oshimili North and Delta State as a whole, potentially helping to boost the level of development in the State”
Responding in affirmations of their loyalty and readiness to the Governor and embrace the APC, Mrs. Ngozi Edo Megwai, moved a motion to move from PDP to APC.
