Chybee Entrepreneurship Foundation for Women, a nor profitable organization that is committed to sustaining the development of women in Nigeria and Africa in general, has empowered 50 businesswomen with N100,000 support grants to grow their individual businesses.
The Empowerment Programme tagged; ” Chybee Africa Festival of Culture and Fashion; The beauty of Africa: celebrating culture and fashion” to took place in Asaba, Delta State capital.
In her welcome address, the founder, Chybee Entrepreneurship Foundation for Women, Lady Chinyere Chukwudi Zimako, said Africa culture is a treasure trove of stories, traditions, music, art, and values passed down through generations.
She maintained that, Africa traditions remind us of our roots and identify, adding that fashion, an integral part of our culture, is a powerful language that speaks unity in diversity.
She explained that the economic benefits of Africa culture and fashion are undeniable, noting that Nigeria’s fashion industries has become a significant contributor to our economy, by creating jobs and opportunities for designers, artisans, and entrepreneurs.
Furthermore, she noted during an interview that her driving force is to see women who are hardworking, and go into businesses to enable them to support their families and also contribute to the economic growth.
According to her; “I am an entrepreneur, I love people in business, as you all know, entrepreneurs are the drivers of economy transformation.
“ I support small and medium scale businesses, I want our women to be hardworking, to go into business so that they can support their families and also contribute to the economic growth”.
On the selection process of the beneficiaries, Lady Chukwudi, said, the selection takes a lot of process, from application to our breakdown check to make sure that the applicants are genuine, and when they have given the money it will be used judiciously for the purpose.
She also disclosed that the foundation is not just giving out the money but also train and monitors the beneficiaries with her team members to supervise if the grant was used judiciously.
The Commissioner for Workers, Rural Roads, and Public Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, Recipient of an Award of ” Distinguished Honourable”, commended Chybee Foundation for encouraging young women at their best in what they do, particularly in the world of design and fashion.
Mr. Aniagwu noted that Chybee Foundation Empowerment Programme is in line with the State Governor’s MORE AGENDA of getting a number of persons to become skillful and to bring development to our country.
He said, “I wholeheartedly appreciate Chybee Entrepreneurship Foundation not just extending awards to deserving individuals but also helping to promote our cultural heritage and at the same time encouraging our young women to be at their best in what they do”.
” What she is doing today is what our government has continued to preach that whoever that is in position to help should do so that we have a better society because it will be a mistake for you to think that the government will do everything or get everybody engaged”
Also, the Chairman, PWAN group, Dr. Augustine Onwumere, a recipient of “Icon of Employment Award”, described Lady Chinyere Chukwudi as an angel sent by God to improve the lives of women,
He added that Empowerment helps to build par capital index of the economy, and GDP of a country.
Earlier, some beneficiaries thanked Lady Chinyere Chukwudi, and her team members for the empowerment grant, promising that the money will be judiciously used to improve their businesses.
The empowerment programme that is well attended by top traditional rulers, His Royal Majesty, Obi Professor Epiphany Azinge, the Asagba of Asaba, His Royal Majesty Obi Henry Kikachukwu Afamefuna, Obi of Ubulu-Uno, Representative of His Imperial Majesty Obi Dr. Greg Nnamdi Oputa 111, and businessmen and women.
Highpoint of the ceremony includes traditional dance, masquerade dance and more.
