The Chairman of Local Government Service Commission, Chief (Dr.) Joseph Otirhue, said Governor Sheriff Oborevwori had transformed Delta State in less than two years of administration, thereby surprising those doubting Thomases of his ability to develop the state.
Dr. Joseph Otirhue stated this on Wednesday at the State Secretariat Asaba, while rolling out some of the commission’s landmarks achievements since he assumed office as the chairman of the Commission
The Chairman, flanked by top members of the local government service commission, emphasized that even the blind could attest to the development strides that we are experiencing in Delta today, saying It’s unimaginable.
Hon. Otirhue further hinted that these developments witnessed across the state had never in history been recorded prior to the emergency of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.
He said: “the blind know that what we are experiencing in Delta state today is unimaginable because it has never been recorded before now. There is no gainsaying the fact that Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori has proved the doubting Thomases wrong in his ability to transform Delta State to Eldorado”
” You can see all kinds of projects that are ongoing. Delta state is APC today and one of our major leaders, the minister of aviation did mention that this man, (refering to the state Governor) do you think you will be able to have a rival for him?
“ The flyovers are going on in Warri, if you are coming from Ughelli end to Asaba, you don’t need to hold break before getting to Asaba, you can sleep off while driving”
” These are testaments of the more than thousands of projects that have been embarked on by this present administration, and who is behind this? Is Sheriff Oborevwori because he promised Deltans when we were on the trail of campaign in 2023 that he is going to do more for Delta state”
” It is something that we have never seen before and this is taking place within two years in Office”.
” Is it the educational sector, health, environment all these are enough to give kudos to him, like I always tell people, if you see sheriff, the only word you should say is thank you for doing well for us”.
The Chairman, while highlighting some landmarks achievements, noted that the Commission is saddled with the mandate to train and retrain staff of the Commission to enable them work efficiently and effectively for optimal performance in their various levels in local government across the state.
Dr. Otirhue also explained that local government workers play a major role and also stakeholders in the operations of local government in terms of execution of projects, efficiency, and policymaking
He maintained that with the continuous training of staff, a lot had been achieved, saying knowledge is power, and they have used what they learnt to develop their jobs and there are no reports from any local government that staff are not carrying out their duties
Speaking on the synergy between the Commission and local government council chairmen, Hon. Joseph Otirhue said the relationship is robust
