The Honourable Commissioner, Bureau for Special Duties, Hon. Etacherure Ejiro Terry has debunked and dismissed an alleged online rumour of absence of a fire truck Fire Service Station in Sapele Local Government Area in the state.
Hon. Etacherure, disclosed this during an engagmenet with media personnel at his office, asserted that any narrative suggesting a lack of a fire fighting truck in Sapele is unfounded and misleading.
He said; “the administration of Governor Oborevwori has done a lot to support the emergency response capabilities of the State Fire Service”.
The Commissioner noted that those peddling the fake news of non-availability of Fire fighting Truck in Sapele are doing so from a place of malicious intent aimed at tarnishing the good image of this Government.
He advised Deltans to promptly call the emergency lines of the various stations whenever they detect fire, just as he urged the media aides and social media users to always verify facts from the appropriate authorities before publication.
He said; “we encourage the public to engage with us directly for any concerns or inquiries regarding our services, call us on time and not when the fire has engulfed the facility,”.
The Commissioner reiterated that the Delta State government remains steadfast in its mission to promote transparency and accountability and will not hesitate to counter any misinformation that seeks to derail Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s progress and public trust.
Also, , the Director Fire Service Commission Dr. Oziwele accounted that the truck and men of the Sapele Fire Station were attending to a fire emergency at Sapele/Warri Road when the call came in that there was another fire at a different location.
He said, “In a swift response to this call, the Sapele Fire Station called for assistance from their sister station in Oghara, but by the time the Oghara truck arrived, the place had been razed down by the inferno”
