Disturbed by the epileptic power supply and accumulated bill, a delegation of Community Development Committee, CDC Chairman of Ogbe Ogume, Utue Ogume, Igbe Ogume and Ogbagu Ogume took a trip to BEDC office in Sapele to iron things out. The delegates were Celestine Obi Akpaike, Ugochukwu Anoka Kitty, George Inege Dude, Alaska Ekele and Duke Osakwe.
They were received by the Regional Head, Mr Friday Okosun.
During the meeting Mr Okosun appreciated Ogume people for their hospitality and supporting their company especially using the vigilant group to secure the High Tension line after the vandalization. He also commended the Commissioner for Urban Renewal, Engr Michael Anoka for his yeoman’s effort in seeing that Ogume is illuminated.
On the accumulated bill, the delegates made a serious appeal with a promise to pay within the next one month. It was indeed a fruitful meeting as Mr Friday Okosun assured the delegates that there would be light in Ogume from now till the time scheduled for the payment.
The delegates also appealed to the distribution company not to issue lump bill (community bills) henceforth, rather it should be per house. The reason adduced for the request was that it would be difficult for them to collect the money from individuals and they don’t have the locus standi to disconnect anyone that fails to pay. But as distribution company they have the power to disconnect whoever that did not pay the bill.
Responding, the Regional Head simply said “when we get to the bridge we cross it.”
