The Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, has commended the organizers of the 3rd edition of the Delta State Social Media Summit for sustainable development and job creation.
The speaker, who was represented by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Nkem Nwaeke, described the social media summit as a powerful tool for economic transformation, political engagement, and cultural promotion in the digital age.
The speaker noted that the summit, themed “Brand Delta, Grow Delta,” aligned with the aspirations of the state, not only to tell its unique stories but also to harness its creative opportunities and prosperity.
Guwor further emphasized the strategic importance of using social media to project a positive image of the state while highlighting the need to showcase the state’s investment potential, cultural heritage, and human capital to the world.
Recognizing the role of young people in the evolving digital economy, he urged participants to embrace skill acquisition, digital entrepreneurship, and innovation.
According to him, “Social media presents endless opportunities for youths to become content creators, marketers, and influencers who can contribute meaningfully to economic diversification and poverty reduction”.
“The true potential of Delta’s vast resources and talent pool can only be unlocked when we adapt to modern tools and technologies.
Guwor assured that the Delta State House of Assembly, under his leadership, remains committed to creating a favorable legislative environment that promotes digital literacy, access to technology, and the expansion of ICT infrastructure.
“The Assembly will continue to advocate policies that support the digital ecosystem to ensure that no one is left behind in this digital revolution,” he affirmed.
Guwor also called on participants to fully engage in the summit’s discussions and networking opportunities, adding that such collaborative efforts are vital in building a digitally sharp, economically vibrant, and socially inclusive Delta State.
He commended the summit convener for their foresight and dedication, and expressed optimism that the summit would yield practical solutions to key development challenges facing the state.
