
In a remarkable act of community development and support for education, the late Chief Paul Obi family of Igbe Ogume has generously donated school uniforms, exercise books, mathematical sets, bags, biros/pencils to all the pupils of Igbe Primary School and students of Igbe Secondary School, Ogume , Ndokwa West Local Government, Delta State
This initiative aims to improve the learning environment and enhance the overall academic experience of the students.
The donation was in honour of their mother who died ten years ago and their father who also died five years ago. In remembering them they felt it was better they impact on the students/pupils instead organizing a party were people would eat and drink. The representative of the children Mr Stanley Abanum Obi said their parents never went to school but loved education. “In demonstration of this, they bequetted education on all their children.”
“Many parents may not be able to afford the basic necessities for their wards this period because of the economic brouhaha hence we decided to invest in the students to reduce the pains of their parents.” This donation is our way of ensuring that students have the necessary facilities to excel in their studies.”
In their responses, the Principal, Dr Friday Okochi and Mrs Chika Obi emphasized the need to educate the children and to ensure they placed premium on them. “We should see them as our investment hub and give them the best they deserve in spite of all odds.”
“The intervention by the late chief Paul Obi family is, therefore, a welcome development that will provide comfort and stability for students.”
In a similar vein, the Community Development Committee, CDC Chairman of Igbe Ogume Mr Alaska Ekele appreciated the Obi family for the gesture and admonished the villagers not to look down on their own but should appreciate the fact that knowledge is power. “Education is key,” he intones.
He used to occasion to call on sons and daughters to emulate this manner of philanthropism and see education as everybody’s business.
He used the opportunity to appreciate sons and daughters that have been supporting both the primary and secondary schools by contributing their hard earned resources for the payment of stipends to the teachers.
This latest donation serves as a reminder of the power of community-driven initiatives in fostering growth and development.

Apart from the donation of school uniforms and other materials they also provided light refreshments for both the students and guests.
