It was a day of pride and celebration at Olieogo Secondary School, Umuseti, as three students who represented the school at the recent National Youth Games in Asaba were honoured in a special reception.
The students Udome Chinedu, Ossai Destiny, and Ngbonebi Goodness, received certificates of recognition and cash awards in acknowledgement of their outstanding performance. The presentation was made by Chief Patrick Ogbedo, Onotu Ukwu of Umuseti, Utagba Uno, in the presence of cabinet chiefs, the school principal, Mrs Dorothy Ifeoma Esonye, members of staff, and the student body.
Speaking on behalf of the Coordinator of the Umu Ezeti Virtual Town Hall Platform, Chuks Ododo, the Head of Media, Engr. Kaine Chibuzor urged the students to work hard and continue to represent their school positively in both academics and sports. He emphasised that the recognition was not only to reward their success but also to inspire them and their peers to strive for greater achievements.
“This celebration goes beyond rewarding effort,” Engr. Chibuzor said. “It sends a clear message to every student that excellence is valued and that education remains a powerful tool to transform lives and communities.”
The initiative, driven by the Umu Ezeti Virtual Town Hall Platform, is part of ongoing efforts to celebrate excellence and nurture talent within the community. Organisers noted that recognising these young champions demonstrates that with the right support and enabling environment, students from local schools can grow into global talents.
The event also highlighted the remarkable impact of the school’s principal, Mrs Dorothy Ifeoma Esonye. Less than a year after her transfer, she has introduced creativity, innovation, and renewed energy, transforming Olieogo Secondary School into an emerging hub of growth and excellence. The community pledged its continued support for her leadership, with a shared vision to make the school a beacon of learning, talent, and opportunity.
The recognition of Udome Chinedu, Ossai Destiny, and Ngbonebi Goodness is not only a testament to their hard work but also a source of inspiration for their peers and the wider community. Their achievements have made Umuseti proud and strengthened the belief that the community’s young people can excel in every field of endeavour.
Congratulations to our young champions, the pride of Olieogo Secondary School and true ambassadors of Umuseti.
