The Vice Chancellor, Delta State University, Abraka, on Monday , December 1, 2025, marked his one-year anniversary in office with laudable and remarkable development.
Addressing journalists at a press conference at the school premises in Abraka, Delta State, Professor Asagba said the vision of the founding father was to encourage advancement of learning, offer liberal education to all without discrimination, and serve humanity through academic pursuit.
Professor Asagba highlighted that his mission is to also transform the institution through high quality education, sustainable development, strong governance, innovation, and inclusive stakeholder engagement.
He emphasized that the university has a great responsibility in shaping the future of Delta State and Nigeria and recognizes the immense responsibility with utmost care, passion, integrity, and commitment.
According to him, my vision is to position DELSU as a leading university known for academic excellence, impactful research, and global competitiveness.”
He recounted the importance and role of universities in creating future leaders and members of a great society who can inspire, lead, and assist in carving ambitious futures for the next generation.
He explained that universities develop people who contribute significantly to the national economic, social, and technologies through their broader intellectual capital and specific subject expertise.
He noted that the university has a great responsibility in shaping the future of Delta State and Nigeria and recognizes the immense responsibility with utmost care, passion, integrity, and commitment.
Some major milestones highlighted include ICT upgrade initiatives to enhance ICT infrastructure, medical screening schedules development of a new integrated portal system, online payments for certificates and other registry services, upgrades of exam centers A and B at site Abraka with over 600 systems, enhancement of exam centers A and B with new equipment with a minimum working capacity of 300 systems in each center, upgrades of the CBT center at Oleh campus with 200 systems, enhancement of the Faculty of Law CBT center with 100 systems.
Other include construction of new road linking basic medical sciences to faculty of arts, ongoing renovation, 500-seat theater,
faculty of agriculture complex: renovation of halls A, B, C, and D; renovation of weekend degree halls; renovation of the biochemistry laboratory; renovation of physics
