Residents of Ogume community in Ndokwa West LGA were filled with joy as the Delta State Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Renewal, Engr. Michael Anoka, FNSE, marked the Christmas season with the distribution of food items and cash gifts to the people.
The Christmas outreach, which commenced on Wednesday at his country home in Ogume, saw the distribution of essential food items including bags of rice, cows, goats, rams, and cooking oil, as well as cash gifts running into millions of naira.
The gesture, aimed at spreading love and easing the festive burden on families, covered a wide spectrum of beneficiaries. These included widows, elderly men and women, youths, nursing mothers, and community leaders drawn from Ogume and other neighboring communities across Ndokwa Nation.
Speaking at the event, Engr. Anoka explained that the initiative was his personal way of celebrating Christmas with his people and extending the spirit of love, compassion, and generosity that defines the season.
He noted that the outreach also reflects the people-oriented leadership style of the Governor of Delta State, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, whose administration remains committed to improving the welfare of Deltans.
According to the Commissioner, special attention was given to widows, elderly mothers, and nursing mothers to ensure they feel valued and supported during the festive season, and he thanked them for their continuous support for the Oborevwori-led administration.
Engr. Anoka urged the people to continue to remember the Governor in their prayers as he sustains efforts to deliver more dividends of democracy and development to the good people of Delta State.
The event was greeted with jubilation, songs, and expressions of gratitude from beneficiaries, many of whom described the Commissioner as their source of joy.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner disclosed that more socio-political groups and communities across Ndokwa Nation are scheduled to benefit from subsequent phases of this year’s Christmas outreach.
