The Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborewvori has unveiled newly acquired and refurbished operational vehicles to boost mobility and response time for the Delta State Traffic Management Authority (DESTMA) across the state and also inaugurated the Intelligent and Provost Unit.
The Governor who was ably represented at the unveiling and inauguration by state Commissioner of Transportation, Hon. Onoriode Agofure, said the initiative marks a significant milestone in collective efforts to boost efficiency and enhance service delivery in the transport sector.
Oborewvori also added that the unveiling vehicles will strengthen operations, improve field mobility, and enable better service delivery for the good people of Delta State.
He said, “Today marks a significant milestone in our collective efforts to boost efficiency and enhance service delivery in the transport sector.”

“The Intelligent Unit and Provost Unit will play a critical role in promoting compliance, safety, discipline, and professionalism within our transport management systems.”

He urged DESTMA officers to remain united to build a transport sector that is efficient, safe, disciplined, and truly responsive to the needs of our citizens.
“Today’s unveiling of these newly acquired and refurbished vehicles is a direct testament to the MORE Agenda, which continues to strengthen institutional capacity, enhance service delivery, and promote efficiency in public administration.”
Earlier, the Board Chairman Delta State Traffic Management Authority, Chief Peter Idion, noted that the unveiling of the newly acquired vehicles is a testament to another milestone step in the collective effort to strengthen the capacity, discipline, and efficiency of officers.
He commended the state Governor who he described as “ talk and do,” for his visionary and transformative leadership and continued support of DESTMA in the cause of public safety.
He said, “ Your Excellency, your administration’s consistent investment by way of approval has in no small way leapfrogged the capacity of officers through periodic relevant training and retraining of officers and has improved the ability of the authority to serve the public more with a view to attaining excellence and integrity in service delivery.”
He also commended the Director General, management team, and officers of DESTMA for their hard work, discipline, and commitment to service.
In his welcome address, the Director General, DESTMA, Hon.( Chief) Dr. Benjamin Okiemute, lauded the Governor for his unwavering support and vision for a safer and more orderly Delta State.
Chief Okiemute highlighted that under the leadership of His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborewvori DESTMA has introduced several critical changes aimed at revitalizing and positioning the agency as a model Traffic Management Authority in Nigeria geared towards the MORE Agenda policy.
Okiemute added that the acquisition of the newly refurbished vehicles is a significant step to enhance operational capacity, and it will ensure that officers and men are well equipped to manage traffic efficiently and respond to emergencies with speed.
The DG, however, appealed to the state Governor for additional manpower recruitment to enable the agency to expand its operations to meet the demand across the state.
