Various sporting activities continued at the ongoing 15th Biennial Police Games (BIPOGA) holding in Asaba, Delta State, with some of the events already concluded.
In women wrestling. Ayodele Esther from Zone 2 won gold medal in 65 kg , followed by Chidera Chibueze from Zone 9, who clinched the silver medal while Seleakiare Alfred from Zone 16 secured the third position to pick bronze medal.
Blessing Ebare from Zone 5 came 4th to conclude the category.
In the Greco Roman category which is 97kg, Force Headquarters established her position in the list of best medals contenders as Shadrac Hunu secured the first position of the mighty and was neatly followed by Muokokwu Anthony from Zone 13 in the 2nd position while Nweze Kingsley from Zone 9 got the 3rd position leaving Theman Luka from Zone 3 in the 4th place of the category.
Again, the 77kg Greco Roma category was won by Ikechukwu Robbinson from Zone 9 and Nwolisa Kingsley from Zone 13 came second. Kelvin Nwose from Zone 5 came third while Wilson Judge from Zone 3 came forth.
Still on the women category of the wrestling event, Dimejesi Nkechi from Zone 13 won the first position in the76 kg category, followed by Nwome Ifeyinwa from Zone 9 just as Kehinde Aare from Zone 2 came third and Okologo Joy from Zone 5 placed forth.
Meanwhile, in 72 kg women category , Ezeugwu Ifeyinwa from Zone 9 secured the first position , Balogun Adenike from Zone 17 won the second position while Faith Ikhines settled for the third position and Happiness Godson from Zone 16 came fourth.
In the meantime, the organisers of the ongoing 15th Biennial Police Games holding in Asaba have given an assurance of fair officiating all through the weeklong sports fiesta.
Chairman of the organizing committee, Fom-Bam Joseph , an Assistant Inspector General of Police, said adequate arrangements had been made to ensure a smooth and successful competition.
He said the welfare of over six thousand athletes competing in thirty seven sports events were being accorded priority.
AIG Joseph commended the Delta State Government for providing befitting sports facilities for the games holding at the Stephen Keshi Stadium Asaba, Saint Patrick College and other venues within the state capital.
The organizing committee chairman hinted that some new sports including Mixed Martial Arts had been introduced in the ongoing 15th edition of Police Games as part of efforts to modernise the competition and broaden participation
He highlighted some other sports events to include Archery, Arm Wrestling, Triathlon,Tug of War, Vovinam Vietvodao, Wushu Kungfu
Force PRO, Benjamin Hundeyin, an Assistant Commissioner of Police, said the Police Games had been on since 1940 with several innovations, and many champions produced .
The theme of the 15th Biennial Police Games (BIPOGA) Asaba 2026 is ”Beyond the Badge: Excellence in Action.”
The weeklong Biennial Police Games will be rounded off this Saturday with a colourful closing ceremony.
