
The Board of Trustees of Actors Guild of Nigeria has ratified the report which recommended the suspension of Mr Gabriel Ashiedu (Songito) of Lagos state.
In the suspension letter signed by Emmanuel Oguguah and Sunny Mcdon, Chairman and
Secretary respectively, the said Mr Gabriel Ashiedu was accused of gross misconduct, including threats directed at a
member of the Electoral Committee—conduct which falls below the standards of
decorum, discipline and mutual respect expected within the Guild.
Apart from the suspension, he was relieved of his position as Chairman, Lagos State Chapter of the
Actors Guild of Nigeria.
He was also directed to handover all Guild properties in his possession to the Vice
Chairman without delay
“We write to formally notify you that the Board of Trustees of the Actors Guild of
Nigeria (AGN) has received, considered, and duly adopted the report of the
investigative panel constituted to inquire into your conduct during the recent
National Election held in Benin City.”
“The findings established acts of gross misconduct, including threats directed at a
member of the Electoral Committee—conduct which falls below the standards of
decorum, discipline, and mutual respect expected within the Guild.”
“Accordingly, you are hereby placed on indefinite suspension from all AGN activities
with immediate effect.
You are further relieved of your position as Chairman, Lagos State Chapter of the
Actors Guild of Nigeria.”
“You are directed to handover all Guild properties in your possession to the Vice
Chairman without delay. In addition, you shall be removed from all official AGN platforms forthwith.
“The Actors Guild of Nigeria is a noble professional body and will not condone any
form of intimidation, hooliganism, or threat to life.”
“This decision is taken in the interest of institutional integrity, safety, and the
preservation of due process.”
“The Guild reserves the right to review this matter at a later date, should it deem
appropriate, under the incoming National Executive Council.”
