Speaking on Politics Today on Channels Television, the senator representing Bayelsa West said the country has deteriorated under APC leadership. Dickson said: “They gathered together for the sake of removing the PDP and President Jonathan… and look at where we are.”
He criticised the party’s formation and purpose, arguing it lacked a clear governance plan beyond winning power in 2015. According to him: “No one asks, ‘What are you gathering for when you win power?’ They said, ‘Change.’”
He added that the promised change has had negative consequences, stating: “Change can be both ways… you can change from bad to worse, as the APC has done.” Dickson accused the ruling party of failing across key areas, including corruption, insecurity, the economy, and democratic governance.
He said: “Whether it is insecurity… whether it is on the economy… whether it is on fighting corruption… the APC…” has not delivered on expectations. The former governor also criticised the scale of alleged financial mismanagement, saying: “People talk now, calculate monies now in trillions, monies they probably don’t even need.”
The APC came to power in 2015 on promises to tackle corruption, improve the economy, and address insecurity, but critics, including Dickson, argue that conditions have worsened since then.
