
The late Mrs Philomena Fausa Bulodi Alumona, (Nne Neku), has been honoured with a befitting burial. She died at the age of 67.
A christian, the Alumona hailed from Abeokuta, Ogun state while her death has thrown family members, colleagues, and associates into remembering her, with many describing her as someone whose contributions to the growth and stability of her community would remain indelible in the annals of its history.
Receiving the guests, Alumona Grant, who expressed deep appreciation to them for honouring his late mother, said his mother’s calm disposition, wisdom and commitment to unity helped to strengthen a united family.
He extended his heart-felt condolences to the familes of the deceased, particularly to the Totoro, Abeokuta, Ogun state and Umu-Oshiogbe in Umu Nkwoi of Ogbe Ogume and Umu Onyemali of Umuchime, Ogume both in Ndokwa West local government area, Delta state.
In his remarks, Grant thanked the guests, for remembering his late mother again after her passing and burial but with gratitude to God for a fulfilled life of service to her community.
“I want to use this opportunity to thank everyone. We are very happy and very grateful that this honour has been done to our mother. Her invaluable service to our community and residents will remain evergreen.” he said.
He described her mother as a fearless leader who devoted her life to justice, equity and fairness, noting that her contributions to the family and the development of the community would remain indelible.
According to him, his mother was widely regarded as a mother figure whose advocacy transcended ethnic, regional boundaries, also a renowned counselor who devoted her life to mentoring younger generations.
“All of us in this ceremony can attest to the fact that Mrs Philomena Fausa Bulodi Alumona, was a mother general. She stood for all, she stood for justice, she stood for equity and she stood for fair play,” he added.
Grant further noted that the matriarch taught his family and associates the virtues of humility, courage and unwavering commitment to truth throughout her lifetime.
“She was a fearless woman. She taught us how to be humble, how to be firm and how to stand for the truth. That was what she did throughout her life. To our dearest mother, your strength and resilience were unmatched. You stood for us when we couldn’t stand for ourselves. Though you are gone, your voice still guides us every day.” he said.
He noted that his mum remained a strong voice for the people of both Ogun and Delta states and Nigeria at large, adding that her contributions to justice would continue to inspire future generations.
The eldest son, Chief Paschal Alumona also expressed worry over the death of his mother, describing her passing as a painful loss to the family.
“She was a dedicated and committed woman who gave her best in the discharge of her duties. The late Mrs Philomena was wholly dedicated to her job. Her passing is a huge loss, not only to the family but to the people of Delta and Ogun states,” he said.
Paschal noted that his mother’s contributions to community activities, especially in the area of peaceful coexistence and event coordination, would be greatly missed. He revealed that the late matriarch’s exemplary life and outstanding accomplishments earned her widespread respect across Delta and Ogun states.
Comrade Patrick Obi, Chairman, Tippers Council, described the late Alumona as a committed mother whose dedication to community development earned her admiration across family and community circles.
According to Obi, Alumona demonstrated exceptional diligence, loyalty and a strong sense of duty in the discharge of her responsibilities as a Christian.
“You were a source of strength, wisdom, and unconditional love. Your presence brought peace to our hearts, and your absence leaves a space that can never be filled.On behalf of my members, I commiserate with the family of the deceased” Obi stated.
He noted that the late Alumona’s departure was a painful loss not only to his immediate family but also to the wider community that benefited from her experience, intellect and humility.
Obi further prayed for the repose of the soul of the deceased and for strength for her loved ones to bear the loss. He prayed that Almighty God would grant the departed woman eternal rest and give her family and loved ones the fortitude to bear the loss.
Sister to the deceased, Alimot Abimbola Tujuoso, described her late sister as a woman of integrity, wisdom and uncommon dedication to public service, who played a pivotal role in laying the foundation for sustainable peace in the communities.
Tejuoso recalled her close working relationship with late Alumona, saying she had the privilege of witnessing first-hand the late sister’s commitment to duty, humility in leadership and passion for the growth and unity of her community.
“My sister was not just a community leader; she was an institution in herself. Her counsel was always measured, her approach to the children was people-oriented, and her loyalty to the progress of the community was unwavering,” Tejuoso stated.
She added that Alumona’s wealth of experience and motherly guidance would be sorely missed, particularly at a time when the state and nation require the wisdom of elder statesmen.
While extending his heartfelt condolences to the families, Tejuoso prayed for the peaceful repose of the departed mother’s soul and strength for her loved ones to bear the irreparable loss.
A guest, Mr Cletus Elugbe, while giving tribute said, “You ran your race with faith, strength, and grace. Though we mourn your absence, we take comfort in knowing that you are at peace, resting in the presence of the Lord. Your life was a testimony of love, and your legacy will continue to guide us. Until we meet again, we hold on to the hope that God gives.
Also, Pastor Ben Ogeleka, said, “Mummy, you gave us everything without asking for anything in return. Your prayers covered us, your love sustained us, and your presence made life beautiful. We miss you deeply. You lived a life of purpose and impact. Those who knew you can testify to your kindness, your generosity, and your unwavering faith. Your legacy lives on in us”
Mrs Philomena Fausa Bulodi Alumona, (Nne Neku) who passed away recently, was widely respected as an individuals who have made remarkable contributions to the growth and development of the community across various sectors.
Her burial ceremony, was held on April 5, 2026, at Ogbe-Ogume, Ndokwa West local government area, Delta state where several distinguished Nigerians attended.
